Unity XR Engineer

BRINK XR is seeking an XR Software Engineer to help design, prototype, implement, and bug-fix new features and improvements in our VR & AR travel apps.

In this role, you'll be responsible for developing new features like user interfaces and multiplayer.  Helping to bring scenes to life with realistic natural effects, shaders, and animations.  Optimizing rendering and establishing best practices for content delivery.  And helping to maintain support for various XR devices including headsets, phones, and tablets.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of software development for XR real-time 3D engines (specifically Unity), clean coding practices, experience with XR runtimes for Android / Windows / iOS, ability to diagnose and optimize rendering to hit target framerates, and shader development as a plus.


  • Maintain and improve the current Unity project that drives our VR and AR applications
  • Create realistic and performant visual effects with custom shaders and animations
  • Prototype new interactions and features with an eye toward intuitive usability and feel
  • Implement XR UI designs from Photoshop/Illustrator templates
  • Add support for existing and upcoming XR devices


  • 3+ years experience as an engineer shipping user-facing features on games or other 3D interactive products
  • Solid experience with Unity and C#
  • Strong understanding of real-time 3D rendering techniques
  • Experience in UX design or game design
  • Experience with VR and AR development for Android and Windows platforms
  • Comfortable working remotely within a Windows pipeline with an international remote team
  • Self-managing and eager to show their own ideas to improve our apps.
  • Experience with real-time networking features (i.e., synchronous multiplayer games)
  • A love of the great outdoors and travel, and a desire to preserve and protect the amazing places of the world

  • Bonus:  Experience with 3D graphics content creation tools like Maya, 3Ds Max, Blender, Houdini, ZBrush, Substance Painter or Mari
  • Bonus:  Experience creating node based shaders with Amplify Shader Editor (or Shader Graph)
  • Bonus:  Experience with versioning tools like Plastic SCM and Perforce
  • Bonus:  Experience with Asana (or any other project management tool)
